Read Current Debate
Returns the current debate state: topic, contenders, bad faith level, message count, summary, and screen. Use this to understand what is currently displayed before taking any action.
When to Use
- When configuring a new debate.
- When a debate is in progress.
How to Use
Setup-screen — When configuring a new debate.
Location: Debate Setup panel
- Observe the 'Topic' input field to see the current debate topic.
- Look at the 'Contenders' list to view the participating characters.
- Check the 'Bad Faith Level' selector to see its current setting.
- Note the absence of a 'Message Count' or 'Summary' as the debate has not started.
Chat-screen — When a debate is in progress.
Location: Debate Chat area (header and summary panel)
- At the top of the chat, see the debate topic displayed.
- Below the topic, view the list of participating contenders.
- Locate the 'Debate Summary' panel to find a brief overview of the debate state.
- Scan the chat history to get an idea of the message count.
What to Expect
- You see the chosen topic, contenders, and bad faith level, and confirm you are on the setup screen.
- You see the debate's topic, contenders, bad faith level (implied by debate tone), current message count in the chat, and a summary of the debate.
Prerequisites
- A debate must be active or in the setup phase.
Limitations
- Does not show individual message details; use 'readDebateMessages' for that.
