    Moving to the US for work — which visa route are people actually using?

    My spouse and I are planning a move to the US over the next year or two. I work in tech and we're trying to figure out which route makes the most sense. Employer sponsorship seems like the usual path, but everyone warns us the wait is years long. For those who've done it: how did you actually get the right visa, and what would you do differently?

    Small update — since my first post I've been wondering whether we even need an employer in the loop. Someone pointed me to the EB-2 NIW, where you can self-petition, and I found this breakdown of the requirements while reading up: https://www.o1eb1.com/en/eb1/eb-2-niw For anyone who's gone the NIW route in tech: how realistic is it to prove you qualify without a PhD or a long publication list?
