What is smart splitting?
AI analyzes a long or complex note and intelligently breaks it down into multiple focused, well-organized separate notes. Each new note covers a distinct topic or section, with clear titles and organized content — perfect for turning overwhelming information into manageable pieces.
How does privacy work with AI features?
Your notes are stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB by default. When you use AI features, only the specific note content is sent to our cloud function for processing — no data is stored on our servers. If you turn on passkey-based sync, notes are encrypted client-side before upload, so even then we never have access to readable content.
What formats can I export to?
You can export individual notes or your entire collection as JSON (preserving all metadata) or Markdown (for compatibility with other note-taking apps). Both formats support batch import/export.
Do I need an internet connection?
After the initial load, the app works offline for reading, editing, and organizing notes. You need internet only for AI features (meta-notes, consolidation, splitting) and initial sign-in.
What markdown features are supported?
Standard markdown including headers, lists, links, code blocks, emphasis (bold/italic), and more. The preview mode renders markdown in real-time, and split view shows editing and preview simultaneously.
Can I record audio and have it transcribed?
Yes. Tap the mic icon in the editor toolbar to record a voice note. When you stop recording, AI transcribes it into text and inserts it directly into your note.
Can I upload an audio file instead of recording?
Yes. From the same recording panel, choose to upload an existing audio file (up to 2 hours long) instead of recording live. You'll see the file's duration and an estimated credit cost before confirming, then AI transcribes it into your note.
